I'm trying to shoot for these days. Actually I find myself using film more often than not (it's going to be a month or so before I get any of those back and digitized). But the DP1 makes for good company sometimes. I often just keep it in my backpack. Though the sights are often the same these days as I just travel mainly on the same walk to and from work.

Max convenience

I spend too much of my budget at convenience stores and eating out, though I am trying to cut back. It's easy though to stop on the way home from work and grab a guava juice or something.

pathway to home

Finishing work at midnight on the weeknights is okay. I like how quiet the city gets. The weekends are a bit more...something.

Silette LK

Silette LK, originally uploaded by jaeming.

I think this camera is one of the Agfa Silettes that dates from the 1970's.
One of the reasons I bought this camera (cheaply) was because I dug the idea that it had no Battery. It has a built-in light meter (no battery needed) of course.

I remembered this recently when I came across this, photographing with no batteries article: http://www.feelingnegative.com/camerabag/photographing-without-batteries

It really appeals to me to have an all mechanical camera loaded up with film, in which I never have to worry about the battery status.

I haven't got any digitized photos from this camera yet but here is a gallery of a few from other users:

My girlfriend recently took a visit home to China. She asked if she could use my camera, a sigma DP1. I had recently used it to take some photos of her graduation and she loved the results. I was hesitant since my girlfriend knows next to nothing about using this camera. As it turns out, she didn't take many photos but I was impressed by the ones she did. Here are a few below:

night gar

Handheld with the mirror-up mode. A bit over-exposed as well. Used the beautiful and classic Super-Takumar 50mm f/1.4 lens.

The SD14 is not particularly known for it's ISO 1600 performance, but I like a challenge ;)

for the view

Recently visited Wellington. It was a nice reset but I can't but help feeling I'd like a more extended holiday. Coming this December hopefully :)

The SD14 is performing beautifully, though I haven't had nearly as much chance to use it yet as I would like. I feel limited without a car. The city is diverse but there are a lot of people who frown at a big DSLR being pointed at them so for now I'm sticking mainly to still life.

an open window..

an open window.., originally uploaded by jaeming.

I had just gotten a package with my 24mm f/1.8 lens and though I was already running late for work, I took the time to fire off a daylight test shot looking out from my window.

I've tried to keep the colors faithful here from the original, just added a bit of contrast and a tiny bit of saturations. They say the Sigma SD14 doesn't have reliable AWB but I'm finding that kind of fun and really liked the color tones here.

This is where I work. DP1 shot. Inspired from the last post, I'm still playing with green/blue tones.

a building sees the sky…

I was giving the DP1 workflow an alternative try-out with Adobe Lightroom. The colors seems to be a little more flat and generally I find most of the presets available for Lightroom to be too severe.
This one worked out a bit more nice though. It was originally underexposed and a polaroid-type preset brought up the exposure and added a nice contrast, not to mention some interesting cyan/green tones.
